The BESIDE retreat can be a way to stimulate young people’s curiosity and help them to ask questions about the world, life and the wonder of being alive.
The greatest challenge of all is to connect what we believe about God with what we believe about ourselves. Believing in God can help young people believe in themselves, hopefully coming to see themselves in the way God sees them.
It is possible through the retreat experience to show young people that there is something better on offer; a faith based alternative to the void that is very evident in youth culture.
The Beside program is a pastoral service that works across all CDYS projects, programs, schools and parishes in the region.
BESIDE offers reflection Days (retreats) to schools for Transition Year students, Senior Cycle students, youth projects and groups. The aim of the reflection days is to allow young people some time and space to reflect upon meaning in their lives.
BESIDE encourages young people to explore their faith and participate in the life of the parish and their communities, by offering support and training to Parish Youth Groups and other organisations and Pastoral Training Programmes for Youth Leaders.
This programme is aimed to facilitate young people to own their faith through a series of search and love encounter experiences with Christ and with others.
