Young Volunteers have been honoured by CDYS for their efforts in helping others and reaching their own personal goals.
The high-achievers from Mallow, Fermoy and Midleton were presented with their certificates of achievement at a gala awards ceremony held in Midletdons My Place youth centre on Friday.
Guest of honour for the evening was Miss Cork, Orla Clancy, who delivered an inspirational speech to the assembled crowd. CDYS board chairman Simon Martin and regional director Brian Williams also spoke praising the award winners for their dedication and hard work and the positive attributes each of them bring to the service.
Mr Williams said “In an organisation of this size, it sometimes seems their
work is unappreciated, but that is not the case. Tonight we acknowledge and celebrate their dedication and all CDYS stands for”.
Fittingly it was the young people who took centre stage on the night , with three of the award winners also presenting the certificates to their colleagues, each of whom received a rousing round of applause.
The evening drew to a close with a concert featuring talented young musicians from each town.
